Louisiana – Governor Landry announced that Chennault International Airport has received $20,894,692.02 from the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) to construct a 37,449-square-foot paint hangar.
The project is expected to create more than 100 jobs for the region and the State of Louisiana. Louisiana Economic Development also contributed a $2 million grant to support the project’s completion.
Governor Landry said the investment strengthens the state’s economy, expands opportunities, and supports long-term job growth in Southwest Louisiana. He thanked President Trump, Congressman Clay Higgins, the Louisiana congressional delegation, and LED Secretary Bourgeois for their support in advancing the project.
Rep. Clay Higgins highlighted that the new hangar will increase operational capacity at the airport, attract new commercial opportunities, and strengthen the region’s economic outlook.
Kevin Melton, Executive Director of Chennault International Airport, described the project as the culmination of a four-year effort to expand airport operations and support companies based at Chennault. He noted that the expansion aligns with LED’s five pillars of prosperity: ease of doing business, high-wage employment, thriving regions, growth and innovation, and global impact.
