Shreveport, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced that Interstate 20 westbound will be closed at the I-220 interchange in Bossier City during nighttime hours starting Thursday, December 5, 2024. The closures are scheduled to take place from approximately 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and will continue over four nights.
The temporary closures are part of the ongoing I-20 major rehabilitation project. The contractor will prepare concrete barriers to facilitate shifting traffic onto the newly constructed westbound travel lanes. This is a continuation of work that began with the traffic shift from Industrial Drive to Airline Drive.
A similar process is underway for the eastbound lanes. Once all traffic in both directions is fully transitioned onto the new travel lanes, the project will enter Phase 3, the final stage of construction.
Phase 3 involves the removal and reconstruction of the outside (right) lanes of the interstate between Hamilton Road and Industrial Drive in both directions. Additionally, ramps at Industrial Drive, Benton Road, Barksdale Boulevard, and Airline Drive will be rebuilt.
The I-20 rehabilitation project is expected to conclude in late 2025, weather permitting. Motorists can visit the project’s webpage for updates and additional resources.
