LA 146 bridge over Caney Creek to close for long-term repairs in Claiborne Parish

by Erica Knowles

Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced the closure of the LA 146 bridge over Caney Creek, located just south of Homer in Claiborne Parish, starting Thursday, April 3, 2025.

The bridge, built in 1966, is being closed due to concerns over its structural condition. The closure is expected to be long-term, with the bridge scheduled for replacement in a future project currently in the early design phase.

The LA 146 bridge is situated approximately 1.4 miles east of the intersection with US 79. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes, as the bridge will be closed until further notice. Detour signs will be placed to guide drivers around the affected area.

The DOTD has noted that the project is still in its initial stages, and further updates will be provided as the planning progresses toward the construction phase. Work on the bridge will be dependent on weather conditions, and motorists should stay informed for any changes or developments.

For more information, drivers are encouraged to visit the DOTD website or contact the department for further details.
