Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced the completion of Phase 1 of the LA 3227 at LA 157 realignment project in Haughton, Bossier Parish. This phase, a $4.2 million initiative, involved the reconstruction of the LA 3227 approach to LA 157, preparing for a new traffic configuration set to be implemented in Phase 2.
Phase 1 also included the widening of LA 157 from two to five lanes near the Pilot Truck Stop on the east side of the roadway, addressing growing traffic volumes.
Looking ahead, Phase 2 will focus on realigning LA 3227 to connect with LA 157 at a newly constructed intersection, with the existing traffic signal being relocated.
Additionally, the current intersection at LA 3227 and LA 157 will become a right-in, right-out only, and cross traffic will no longer be able to access LA 3227 from the north Pilot driveway. Motorists will need to travel 400 feet south to the new traffic signal to access LA 3227.
Phase 2 is scheduled to go to bid in March 2025, completing the improvements to the intersection designed to improve traffic flow and support economic development for the growing Haughton community.
