Shreveport, LA – According to the state officials, during significant rain events, the The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development closely monitors water levels and forecasts, adjusting the tainter gate openings as necessary according to the Tainter Gate Opening and Closing Plan.

This plan aims to optimize the D’Arbonne Lake Tainter Gate System’s capabilities while mitigating flood risks and ensuring public safety.

The 2024 Lake D’Arbonne drawdown period has begun, with the south gate currently open 2 feet.

As of 8:45 a.m. on September 3, 2024, the water level at Bayou D’Arbonne at Lake D’Arbonne was recorded at 79.76 feet by the National Weather Service.

The DOTD reminded the public that it does not manage boat traffic on the lake.
