Shreveport, LA – A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agent recently achieved a milestone by earning a highly regarded certification from the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA).
Captain Jason Russo successfully passed the Certified Recreational Boating Professional (CRBP) exam on December 5, making him the first LDWF agent to receive this certification. The CRBP credential, created by NASBLA, recognizes expertise, performance, and career achievements in recreational boating across various specialized domains.
Capt. Russo brings over 20 years of experience to his role in the LDWF Enforcement Division, where he serves as Emergency Services Manager and Accredited Agency Program Manager for NASBLA’s Boat Operations and Training (BOAT) program. His dedication extends beyond his department as he now acts as a national instructor for NASBLA’s Level 1 and Level 2 Boating Incident Investigation and Analysis courses and as LDWF’s NASBLA Officer Water Survival Instructor.
Capt. Russo’s accomplishments include receiving NASBLA’s Butch Potts National Boating Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award in 2023, highlighting his outstanding contributions to boating law enforcement and public safety.
