Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division is investigating a boating collision that occurred on Feb. 11 in Bayou Bonfouca, St. Tammany Parish.
The incident involved a 16-foot boat carrying three occupants and a 19-foot boat with two occupants towing a water skier. The collision injured all three individuals on the smaller vessel, with two being ejected into the water without personal flotation devices.
The occupants of the larger boat retrieved the two individuals from the water and waited for emergency responders. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived first, transporting the injured boaters to ambulances.
Two were taken to Lakeview Hospital in Mandeville, while the third was transported to the University Medical Center in New Orleans.
The two occupants of the 19-foot vessel and the water skier did not require medical attention. LDWF is leading the investigation, with the cause of the crash under review and potential charges pending.
