Shreveport, LA – A man taken into custody on narcotics charges is now facing multiple additional offenses after investigators linked him to a business burglary on Line Avenue, according to the Shreveport Police Department.

Officers initially encountered William Collins shortly after 2:00 a.m. on May 22 while responding to a reported burglary in the 6100 block of Line Avenue. Although he was not immediately connected to the break-in, police say he was found in possession of narcotics and was arrested at the scene.

Following the arrest, detectives from the department’s Property Crimes Unit reviewed surveillance footage from the targeted business. The video reportedly shows Collins using a large rock to break into the building. Once inside, police say he attempted to open locked doors, helped himself to food from a storage room, and then left with computer equipment.

Based on the evidence, Collins is now facing several charges, including:

* Simple burglary
* Criminal property damage
* Trespassing
* Possession of narcotics

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not disclosed the value of the stolen property or the extent of the damage to the business.
