According to preliminary investigation findings, a 2009 GMC Sierra was traveling north in the right northbound lane of Louisiana Highway 143 when Harvey, who was wearing dark clothing, was walking in the same lane. Authorities are urging pedestrians to follow important safety guidelines when walking near roadways. Pedestrians should always walk facing oncoming traffic, which allows them to see approaching vehicles and react accordingly. Additionally, when walking at night, it is crucial to wear brightly colored clothing or reflective gear to increase visibility to drivers.

This tragic incident highlights the ongoing need for pedestrian safety awareness and vigilance, particularly during nighttime hours or in areas with limited lighting. Louisiana State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
