Shreveport, LA – A man was arrested Monday morning after allegedly leaving a preschool graduation ceremony in Shreveport, Louisiana, retrieving a stolen firearm, and returning to the scene.
According to the Shreveport Police Department, officers responded to reports of a fight that had broken out during a graduation event on St. Vincent Avenue.
One of the individuals allegedly involved in the altercation, identified as Demarcusse Brown, reportedly left the area after the incident but soon returned armed with a firearm later confirmed to be stolen.
Officers were already on the scene managing the disturbance and were able to detain Brown before the situation escalated further. Police say no injuries were reported during the incident, and the firearm was recovered without further conflict.
Brown was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm on school property, possession of a stolen firearm, and disturbing the peace by fighting.
Authorities also confirmed that Brown had an outstanding warrant for domestic abuse battery at the time of his arrest.
The graduation event was being held for children between the ages of 3 and 5 and was attended by numerous families.
Law enforcement emphasized the importance of maintaining safety at school-related events and commended officers for their quick response in preventing additional harm.
