Louisiana – Louisiana authorities announced a first-degree murder charge against 34-year-old lan in connection with the disappearance of his family member, 66-year-old K. RowIand. The elderly man was reported missing earlier this year after failing to attend a weekly visit with his sister. Despite extensive investigations, his body has not been located.

The defendant was taken into custody in Mississippi two weeks later, following a tip from his sibling. According to the defendant’s sibling, he had received disturbing voice messages from the 34-year-old man, in which he allegedly detailed the murder of his family member. In one message, he reportedly stated that ‘he grabbed hammer and everything and walked up to do it.’

Initially arrested on a warrant for unauthorized use of a vehicle, the defendant was later charged with first-degree murder after further investigation.

Louisiana authorities discovered that the defendant had been living in a camper on the victim’s property at the time of the disappearance. Cell phone data indicated that both men were at the victim’s home at 4:49 p.m. on March 1. The victim‘s phone ceased transmitting less than an hour later and has not been active since, while the defendant’s phone remained operational.

Further evidence included license plate reader footage capturing the defendant driving the victim’s white van after March 1. Additionally, he sent voice messages to a family friend, requesting assistance in cleaning up a mess at the victim’s house, mentioning that stuff was sprayed on the walls and that he had to remove carpet due to the mess.

Cadaver dogs brought to the property indicated the presence of human remains. Investigators found significant blood evidence in the victim’s bedroom, including spatter on the ceiling and floor, and noted that the carpet had been removed. Blood trails led from the bedroom through the living room to the front door, suggesting that the victim’s body may have been moved from the house into the van.

The defendant is currently being held on a contempt of court charge while awaiting extradition to Louisiana to face the first-degree murder charge. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information about the victim’s whereabouts to come forward.
