Shreveport, LA – On May 24, Shreveport police responded to a reported shooting on Greenwood Road that initially appeared to be an accidental discharge. However, further investigation revealed a more complex situation.
The man involved told officers the gun went off accidentally while he was leaving with his girlfriend. Detectives soon discovered that the woman he referred to as his girlfriend did not actually know him.
Authorities determined that Lakeisha Shivers, the man’s actual girlfriend, had shot him during an argument. She then drove him to the hospital and concealed the firearm in her vehicle.
Lakeisha Shivers was subsequently arrested and charged with obstruction of justice and battery of a dating partner causing serious injury. The man, identified as Marcus Brown, was also taken into custody due to an outstanding probation violation warrant.
The Shreveport Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
