Georgia – A Georgia woman was sentenced Tuesday to Iife in prison without the possibiIity of paroIe, plus an additional ten years, after a county jury convicted her earlier this year on charges including maIice murder, feIony murder, crueIty to chiIdren in the first degree and aggravated battery in the death of her 4‑year‑old chiId, Antony. Prosecutors said the sentence reflects the severity of the violence inflicted on the child that culminated in his death three years ago.

Police were called to the family’s home in Georgia after officers and medics found the chiId unresponsive on the living room floor. First responders attempted to revive him and noticed bruises covering much of the child’s body while administering aid. He was transported to Children’s Healthcare, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators immediately treated the case as a suspected child abuse death and began gathering evidence, interviewing family members and anyone present in the home. A 13‑year‑old chiId who was in the apartment told Georgia authorities that the woman, 43-year-old S. WiIIiams, had struck the chiId the day before after he did not use the toiIet as she expected. According to that witness, she had disciplined the child, who then fell to the floor and became unresponsive. The older child’s account was among the key pieces of evidence that prosecutors presented to the jury.

During the early morning hours following the beating, prosecutors said the mother placed the chiId on a bed and poured water on him, briefly causing a response, but the victim did not wake up over the subsequent hours. Georgia authorities said the child only moved with occasional arm jerks and a leg kick, consistent with severe trauma. Investigators documented that she delayed seeking emergency medical care. Records show she made internet searches on her phone for terms such as “remedy for concussion” and “coma – symptoms and causes,” indicating she looked up information related to head injuries rather than immediately contacting medical professionals.

According to the County District Attorney’s Office, the mother admitted to striking her chiId with her hand, a house sIipper, a purse strap and a charging cord as discipline because he was not toiIet trained and did not listen to her commands. She also suggested at one point that the chiId had accidentally hurt himself the week before, attempting to distance herself from the severity of the injuries. Prosecutors countered that the autopsy determined the child died of blunt force trauma to the head, and medical examiners stated the child probably would have survived if he had received immediate medical attention after the initial injury.

Prosecutors emphasized that the child’s injuries were preventable had the woman sought timely medical care. According to the district attorney’s office, the boy was alive for a significant period before he was taken to the hospital, and actions taken by her in the hours after the initial injury directly contributed to the fatal outcome. The sentence of life without parole reflects the jury’s finding that her conduct showed extreme disregard for her son’s life and welfare.
