Shreveport, LA — The Shreveport Fire Department has officially completed the acquisition of a dozen new fire engines funded by the 2021 General Obligation Bond, marking a significant milestone in the city’s efforts to modernize its emergency response fleet.
According to a department statement, the final inspection of the last engine was completed this week, and the vehicle is now in the department’s possession. The 12-truck purchase represents a major investment in public safety and fire services, with 11 of the engines funded through the citywide bond initiative and the twelfth, Engine 20, supported by The Port of Shreveport-Bossier.
The department extended its appreciation to BFA of LA, Inc., the company responsible for building the trucks, and expressed gratitude to the citizens of Shreveport for backing the bond measure that made the upgrades possible.
“These new engines will greatly enhance our operational readiness and ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies across Shreveport,” a department spokesperson said.
Officials say the updated fleet is expected to improve service reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure that fire crews are equipped with the latest technology and safety features. The delivery of the final engine signifies the full implementation of one of the city’s key public safety initiatives stemming from the 2021 bond package.
