Shreveport, LA – Members of the Shreveport Fire Department have been deployed to Kerr County, Texas, to assist in emergency flood response operations, the department announced on July 6.
The firefighters are part of Louisiana Task Force 3’s elite Swift Water Rescue Team and were activated to support Louisiana Task Force 2, which is currently aiding in rescue efforts due to severe flooding in the region.
“These firefighters are highly trained in swift water rescue and bring critical expertise to life-threatening situations,” said Fire Chief Clarence Reese Jr. “Their dedication, skill, and training make them an essential asset. We’re proud of their courage and commitment to serving—wherever they’re needed.”
The team is equipped with specialized rescue gear and years of experience handling flood emergencies. They will work alongside other first responders to locate and evacuate individuals trapped by rising waters.
Chief Reese urged the public to keep the team and all emergency personnel in their thoughts as they work under hazardous conditions to protect lives.
