Shreveport, LA – A Shreveport man has been arrested and charged after allegedly towing a vehicle that did not belong to him and selling it to a scrap yard.
According to the Shreveport Police Department, officers responded to a report regarding a stolen vehicle from the 100 block of East Kings Highway. An investigation by the department’s Property Crimes Unit led detectives to a local scrap yard, where records reportedly showed the vehicle had been sold for scrap.
The individual who allegedly sold the vehicle, identified as Alex Russell, had submitted documentation at the scrap yard claiming ownership of the car, according to police.
On May 6, officers went to Russell’s residence on Boulevard Street to speak with him. Police say he resisted officers during the encounter, leading to a brief struggle before he was taken into custody.
Russell is now facing the following charges:
-
Theft of a Motor Vehicle
-
Felony Theft
-
Resisting Arrest
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released additional details about how Russell gained access to the vehicle or whether it has been recovered.
