Shreveport, LA – Shreveport Police have arrested a man in connection with an armed kidnapping that took place early Monday morning, an incident officials say highlights the growing threat of domestic violence in the community.
Around 1 a.m. on July 15, officers responded to a report of a kidnapping on Shreveport Barksdale Highway. A woman told police she had been forcibly taken from her home on Gayle Street, and that gunshots were fired during the incident.
Following an investigation, Jeremy Brown was taken into custody and booked on multiple felony charges, including home invasion, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault with a firearm, and battery of a dating partner.
Authorities emphasized the serious nature of domestic violence and its impact on public safety. “Domestic violence is the biggest threat facing our community today. It destroys lives, homes, and futures,” the department said in a statement. “We were fortunate no one was seriously hurt in this case—but it could have ended much differently.”
Police urged the community to continue addressing domestic violence collaboratively, emphasizing prevention and support for victims.
