Shreveport, LA – Shreveport Police officers recently recovered a stolen Corvette following a high-speed pursuit that ended when the vehicle crashed into a power pole.
The incident began when officers pulled over a gray Corvette that appeared to match the description of a recently reported stolen vehicle.
The driver, DeQuinton Pye, initially attempted to downplay the situation, but when officers showed him a photo of the stolen car, he acknowledged the resemblance.
Pye and his passenger, Demeta Bell, then tried to stall the officers by arguing and demanding a supervisor. Despite their attempts to delay the process, officers proceeded to verify the vehicle’s VIN, which confirmed that the Corvette had indeed been stolen.
Upon realizing they were caught, Pye attempted to flee the scene. The pursuit quickly escalated, but it ended when Pye lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a power pole.
The collision caused a transformer explosion and downed power lines. Bell fled the scene on foot, but Pye suffered a severe leg injury that required immediate medical attention. He was treated at the scene and taken into custody.
Both Pye and Bell now face charges related to grand theft auto and other offenses. The incident highlights the continued efforts of Shreveport Police to recover stolen property and apprehend suspects involved in criminal activity.
