Shreveport, LA – Shreveport Police officers arrested a man Sunday night after he fled from a traffic stop, rammed a patrol car, and barricaded himself inside an abandoned building on Pro Street.
Just before 8 p.m., officers attempted to stop Marvaeya Anderson, who refused to comply and led police on a reckless pursuit. During the chase, Anderson struck a police vehicle before abandoning his car and fleeing on foot.
He later barricaded himself inside a vacant building, where officers quickly established a perimeter and moved in to take him into custody without further incident.
Following his arrest, police discovered Anderson was wanted on three felony warrants, including one for sexual assault. Officers also found a firearm and approximately 300 grams of suspected methamphetamine and crack cocaine in his possession.
Investigators determined that Anderson was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to prior convictions for illegal use of a weapon and aggravated second-degree battery.
He was charged with flight from an officer, aggravated property damage, possession with intent to distribute narcotics, and felon in possession of a firearm, in addition to his outstanding warrants.
Police said the arrest demonstrated the department’s ongoing commitment to ensuring community safety and holding those who endanger others accountable.
