Shreveport police arrest man in ski mask after fleeing and tossing pistol during chase

Shreveport, LA – On Saturday evening around 7:50 PM, Shreveport Police Department officers responded to a call about a suspicious man dressed in a ski mask in the middle of April in Louisiana—an unusual sight for the warm spring weather.

The caller described the man as creeping around the Hassett and Oak Crest area, and officers arrived on the scene shortly after.

Upon seeing the suspect, later identified as Anthony Perot, officers attempted to approach him, but he immediately fled on foot, attempting to evade capture.

During his sprint, Perot tossed a pistol to the ground. The officers, however, were quick to react, deploying a Taser that successfully incapacitated him, allowing them to take him into custody without further incident.

Perot, a convicted felon with a history of violent offenses, had multiple run-ins with the law.

His criminal record includes charges from 2020 for aggravated assault with a firearm, armed robbery in 2013, being a felon in possession of a firearm in 2015, and battery of a police officer in 2016.

Now, he faces additional charges, including possession of narcotics, on top of trying to evade police.

In a statement from the Shreveport Police Department, Perot’s actions were described as yet another instance of poor decision-making, marking him as a “professional bad decision-maker.” Officers expressed relief that they were able to safely arrest him without further harm to the community or themselves.
