Shreveport, LA – The Shreveport Police Department’s Traffic Unit conducted a seatbelt checkpoint on June 10, 2025, in the 100 block of Southfield Road, operating from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. as part of ongoing efforts to enforce Louisiana’s occupant protection laws and promote road safety.
During the five-hour operation, officers screened a total of 596 vehicles. Of those, 70 vehicles — roughly 12 percent — were stopped for observed violations. In total, officers issued 102 citations, covering a range of traffic infractions beyond just seatbelt noncompliance.
The department emphasized its commitment to roadway safety, encouraging all drivers and passengers to wear seatbelts, obey traffic laws, and stay vigilant behind the wheel.
“Buckle up, drive safe, and follow the law,” the department urged in a public statement following the checkpoint.
