Shreveport, LA – The Shreveport Police Department and the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office (DPSO) welcomed their newest officers and deputies during a graduation ceremony held yesterday at the Shreveport Police Training Academy.
Nine new SPD officers and five new DPSO deputies officially completed their training, ready to serve and protect their communities with courage and compassion.
The event was marked by a sense of pride and emotion as Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith and DeSoto Parish Sheriff Jayson Richardson personally welcomed the graduates.
The rigorous training program, described as one of the most demanding to date, was designed to fully prepare the officers and deputies for the challenges of law enforcement service.
Shreveport City Court Judge Brittany Arvie delivered a keynote address, inspiring the graduates with powerful words about the deep meaning behind the oath they have taken. Judge Arvie emphasized the weight of responsibility that comes with serving the public and urged the new officers and deputies to uphold the values of integrity, justice, and compassion throughout their careers.
Both Chief Smith and Sheriff Richardson expressed pride in the accomplishments of the graduates and optimism about the positive impact they will have in their respective communities. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates and badges to the new officers and deputies, officially marking the beginning of their law enforcement careers.
