Shreveport police K-9 helps take drugs, guns, and stolen car off the streets

Shreveport, LA – A routine call turned into a high-impact bust on June 10, thanks to the sharp instincts and quick response of Shreveport Police Department’s K-9 Edy.

According to the department, two suspects attempted to flee during an incident, but K-9 Edy was quickly deployed and successfully helped officers apprehend them.

During the encounter, Edy made what the department jokingly called a “personal introduction” to one of the suspects — a reminder, they added, that it’s all part of the job.

Thanks to Edy’s efforts, officers recovered firearms, narcotics, and a stolen vehicle, keeping dangerous items off the streets and contributing to public safety.

“Treats for Edy, and maybe some ice for the rest,” the department quipped in a lighthearted social media post, celebrating the K-9’s role in the arrest.

The Shreveport Police Department continues to highlight the importance of its K-9 units in assisting officers with everything from suspect apprehension to the detection of illegal substances.
