Shreveport, LA – Officers from the Shreveport Police Department’s Patrol Division and specialized units participated in an intensive Advanced Rifle Course earlier this week, aimed at sharpening their readiness to respond to violent threats, including active shooter and mass casualty scenarios.
The two-day training, held Monday and Tuesday, was hosted by the Shreveport Police Regional Training Academy and sponsored by the Shreveport Police Union. The course is part of the department’s continued efforts to enhance officer preparedness and ensure swift, effective responses during high-risk incidents.
“This kind of training is essential in today’s environment,” said department officials. “It’s one more way we’re working to ensure we’re ready to protect our city at a moment’s notice.”
The Advanced Rifle Course provided officers with hands-on instruction, tactical drills, and scenario-based exercises, all designed to improve accuracy, speed, and decision-making under pressure.
The department expressed its appreciation to both the Training Academy and the Police Union for their roles in supporting what they called a critical step in keeping Shreveport safe.
