Shreveport, LA – Detectives from the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit are urgently appealing for information following a shooting that left a 19-year-old Hispanic male critically injured at Ford Park on the night of Saturday, June 22, 2025.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m., officers responding to reports of gunfire near 5800 South Lakeshore Drive found the victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition with slim chances of survival. Initial investigations suggest the victim was caught in a gunfight involving multiple armed individuals.

Despite the presence of over 100 people in the park at the time, authorities are alarmed that no credible witnesses have come forward. Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith condemned the violence, calling it “a cowardly and reckless act” and urged the public to assist in the investigation.

“Someone saw something. Someone knows something. It is everyone’s responsibility to do the right thing,” Chief Smith said. Detectives are also seeking any video footage captured by bystanders and ask anyone with information to contact authorities immediately.
