by Erica Knowles

Shreveport, LA – The Shreveport Police Department is inviting the community to come together in remembrance, unity, and support at the 29th Annual DEAN-WILLIAMS Memorial 5K Run/Walk/Crawl, taking place Saturday, June 21, 2025, along Clyde Fant Parkway near the Veterans Memorial Area.

This annual event honors the lives and legacies of SPD narcotics officers Ron Dean (#551) and Dewayne Williams (#904), who were killed in the line of duty in 1992 and 1993. The memorial 5K continues to celebrate their memory while raising funds for Special Olympics Louisiana and honoring all fallen law enforcement officers.

Event details are as follows:

Location: Veterans Memorial Area – Clyde Fant Parkway
8:00 AM – Fun Run/Walk
8:30 AM – 5K Run/Walk/Crawl

Participants of all abilities are encouraged to join. Whether running, walking, or crawling, the focus is on community, remembrance, and support. Those who prefer not to attend in person can still participate as a “Sleep-In Supporter,” receiving a commemorative t-shirt without needing to take part in the physical event.

Registration is open now and you can register here.

For more information, contact the Shreveport Police Public Information Office at 318-673-7300. The department encourages everyone to take part in honoring the legacy of Officers Dean and Williams and supporting a cause that continues to bring the community together year after year.
