Detroit, MI – According to the court documents, the 33-year-old parent, later identified as Azurade, was sentenced to 35 to 60 years behind bars after she reportedly pleaded guilty yo second-degree murder in connection with her disabled child’s death. Prosecutors claim the mom reportedly beat her 3-year-old bIind child, Chase, to death after she became angry with the boy because he didn’t want to eat.
During the trial prosecutors said that in March 2022, the mom became angry with her child because he didn’t want to eat. The woman then started beating the child with a belt and kicked him in the chest several times. The mother reportedly told investigators that when she went to check on him the following morning, the little boy was already dead. Initially, the mother was charged with multiple charges, including: murder, chiId abuse, torture and other, but prosecutors said in exchange for pleading guilty to second-degree murder, all other charges were dropped.
The investigation process began in June 2022 when officers responded to the mom’s home to check on a child. The responding officers reportedly searched the home and found the remains of the 3-year-old boy, hidden in a frrwezer in the basement. The responding officers reportedly stated in their report that the mother was communicating with them and tried to turn them and CPS away. Luckily, they searched the home and found the boy’s remains.
During an interview with investigators, the 33-year-old parent reportedly said that one night in March 2022, she reportedly became angry with the bIind boy because he wasn’t eating. The woman then started beating the boy with a beIt before kicking him in the chest several times. The woman also told investigators that she didn’t called the authorities because she was afraid that they would take her other children. The woman then put the boy’s remains in the frreezer.
