Jacksonville, FL – According to the court documents, the 28-year-old defendant, Jerri, was indicted for multiple charges, including: first-degree murder, kidnapping, se-ual battery and other charges after he killed 13-year-old R0se two months ago. Prosecutors claim the defendant se-ually abused the child before stabbing her with 12″ knife he bought from a local store several hours before the murder. According to Florida laws, the defendant now faces life in prison without the possibility of parole or a death sentence, if convicted.
The fatal incident occurred in July 2024. During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the defendant bought a large knife at a local store, then followed the child at a distance before se-ually assaulting her and stabbing her to death. The 13-year-old child was walking towards another building to meet her friend when she was assaulted by the defendant and stabbed to death.
The victim’s friend realized that the child was late and began looking for her, even contacted the victim’s family members. The victim’s family member reportedly found the fatally injured victim in a storage room at the building. The child was half-nked and had a stab wound to the chest area. First responders rushed the girl to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
The defendant’s attorney argued that his client is not competent to stand trial, court records say. The defendant, who was previously convicted of child abuse charges (initially charged with with Iewd and Iascivious moIestation), was arrested one month before the incident after he assaulted 3 responding deputies who arrived on scene following complaints that someone was watching girls in the neighborhood. The 28-year-old man is being held without bond, court records say.
