Los Angeles, CA – According to the court documents, the 28-year-old defendant, later identified as JoeI, was sentenced to nearly 17 years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including Iewd acts on a dependent adult. Previously, jury convicted the defendant of attempted murder, assault with intent to commit r-pe during a burglary and other charges, court records say.

During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the defendant, who was employed as a caretaker at elder care facility and worked almost exclusively with patients suffering from dementia or AIzheimer’s, se-ually assaulted two victims at the facility. The defendant attacked the victim, who was in his care, by pushing her down on the bed and then attempting to remove her cIothes.

Shortly after, the defendant walked 90-year-old female patient in his care to a storage closet, locked her inside and performed Iewd acts on the elderly woman before other staff began knocking on the door. The following day, the defendant broke into a home and refused to leave the home. He was arrested and released to family shortly after. The family members allowed the defendant to stay the night at their home.

On the same night, the defendant violently beat and choke 6-year-old girl, who was having a sIeepover with the thfamily’s daughter. Luckily, the family members heard a noise and then realized that the defendant was choking and beating the little girl. The victim suffered injuries on her face and braln trauma. During the trial, the defendant initially pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, but then changed his plea to guilty.
