Seattle, WA – According to the court documents, the 29-year-old man, later identified as KirkIand, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after he killed his former partner last year by shooting her in the head, then moIested the woman’s 7-year-old child before shooting her to death. The defendant then dumped both victims in a field, court records say. The fatal incident occurred last year while the defendant was free on b0nd on first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of a man in Arkansas and was barred from contacting the victim after he was arrested on domestic vioIence charges. The man was released from custody just days before he killed the woman and her child.
The investigation process began in March last year after family members called the authorities and reported that both the parent and her child had not been home for several days. Just 10 days later, the police found the victim’s bodies after a passerby saw them and called 911. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that both victims and the defendant stayed at the home of a friend the night they were last seen alive.
The woman and her former partner went out and came back later that night. The unidentified friend told authorities that they saw the defendant taking the 7-year-old child and putting her in the vehicle while her mom was on the front seat passed out. The 29-year-old defendant was arrested one week later after the initial 911 call. Authorities searched the vehicle and found bIood evidence, shell casings and children clothing.
The medical examiner told investigators that the 7-year-old child was moIested and DNA swabs taken from her matched the defendant’s DNA. Several days after he killed the woman and her child, the man messaged another woman ‘where he could bury a gun’. The 29-year-old defendant was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated murder and second-degree murder. The defendant also pleaded guilty to first-degree chiId moIestation in the se-ual assault of the 7-year-old child, but maintains his innocence, court records say.
