Kansas City, MO – According to the police officials, the 23-year-old parent, later identified as KaitIyn, was arrested and is now facing multiple charges, including first-degree abandonment of a child and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child after she left her baby unattended for an unknown period of time. Police officials said the woman was located several days later after her baby was found unattended.
The 4-month-old infant was found was crying and in distress. The baby was rushed to the hospital where doctors determined that she had bruising on her face. The child was left unattended for an unknown period of time and no other person was located at the home when officers arrived on scene. The investigation process began earlier this month after Missouri Department of Social Services Children’s Division’s employee arrived at the woman’s home in connection with another investigation.
The employee told authorities that she heard a baby crying and knocked on the door for nearly 1 hours before she called 911. The responding officers asked the property manager to open the door so they could see if everything is alright with the crying child. When the officers entered the home, they found the baby stuck between a mattress and the wall. The child also had blanket across his head.
The crying child was wearing a diaper, which was very soiIed. During the investigation process, authorities reportedly found a note which was left on the wall of the bedroom, which stated ‘went to go score be right back’. The child was removed from the mother’s custody, police officials said. This incident remains under investigation.
