Jacksonville, FL – According to the police officials, the elderly man, later identified as 93-year-old HeImut, was arrested and later charged with first-degree attempted murder after he tried to kill his partner. Prosecutors claim the defendant tried to murder his partner by strangling her to death. This unfortunate incident occurred just two weeks after he tried to sm0ther her with a pillow while she was on the bed. After the first incident, the unidentified victim had a conversation with her spouse and ‘believed he would not try to hurt her again’.
This unfortunate incident occurred over the weekend at the family’s home. The unidentified woman called 911 and told the dispatcher that her partner tried to kill her. The responding officers found the woman crying in her front yard. During an interview with investigators, the woman reportedly said that she was watching TV when her husband tried to strangle her with a rope.
The woman had visible injuries on her neck and arms. The man reportedly grabbed the rope while the woman was not paying attention only to return moments later and then try to kill her. The woman told the responding officers that her husband was inside their home. The responding officers took the elderly man into custody without incident. During an interview with investigators, the husband reportedly said that he wanted to take his own life several times.
The man even said that he wanted to use the same rope he used to try to kill his partner to take his own life. Just two weeks before the incident, the man tried to kill his partner with a pillow because ‘he did not want to Ieave her aIone’. The 93-year-old man also told investigators that ‘he is dying and didn’t want to leave his longtime partner alone’. The elderly man is being held without bond, court records say.
