Indiana – An Indiana husband, later identified as 36-year-old Jeremi, was taken into custody and later charged with multiple charges, including attempted murder and fetlcide after he reportedly shot his wife multiple times. Authorities in Indiana say the pregnant woman suffered life-threatening injuries, but survived the incident. Unfortunately, the doctors weren’t able to save the baby. Authorities say the woman was 5 months pregnant at the time of the shooting. The defendant fled the scene and was taken into custody hours later.
According to the police officials, the fatal shooting occurred last week at the woman’s home. The investigation process began after the victim’s friend walked inside the home and found the woman lying on the bathroom floor, covered in bIood. The victim’s husband was reportedly next to the victim, standing, only to then fled the scene. First responders rushed the 25-year-old victim, KayIa, to the hospital and were able to save her life. Unfortunately, the hospital staff wasn’t able to save the baby.
Authorities in Indiana took the defendant into custody following a traffic stop. During an interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly said that ‘he was going to turn himself in and asked the responding officers about the condition of the victim’. The responding officers reportedly found notes in the defendant’s vehicle, in which he discussed about the relationship with his wife.
According to the police officials, the defendant was reportedly angry with the woman because of her infideIity. The 36-year-old shooter even told investigators that he was angry that while they hadn’t gotten divorced, she reportedly got pregnant by another man.
According to him, their marriage hadn’t been going well, but he had hopes that they could get back together one day. The shooter also told investigators that he bought the firearm several days before the fatal shooting and planned to kill the woman, her child and himself.
During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the shooter and the victim spent the day together before they returned to her home. The defendant then pulled out his gun and shot the woman in the back multiple times. He is being held without bond, court records say.
