Arizona – A Arizona man was sentenced to life in prison after previously pleading guilty to multiple charges including first-degree murder and child endangerment in connection with the 2018 incident which left his former partner dead. Authorities say the defendant killed his former partner, Jasmin, before leaving her baby on the side of the road. The man then returned to the place where he left the woman’s body only to pour gasoIine and set it on fire.
The investigation process began in March 2018 after passerby found the baby and called 911. The responding officers realized that the 7-month-old baby wasn’t injured and found a wallet containing ID of the victim. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the victim and the defendant were on their way to take a patrnity test.
The victim was last seen around 9 p.m. after her family members said she left with the defendant to get a patrnety test. The victim’s baby was found just 1 hour later. The defendant was taken into custody several hours after the murder.
During an interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly admitted to punching the woman multiple times with a closed fist. The man then left the victim in a field before leaving her. The defendant reportedly told investigators that the woman was still alive when he left. He then drove away and realized that the baby was in the back seat before stopping the car and leaving the child on the side of the road.
Shortly after, he realized that there were people close to the area where he left the woman, so he decided to go back and take care of her. The man then returned only to pour gasoIine and set the body on fire. When the fire was out, he claims that he returned for the baby, but realized that police already found the child.
