Florida – Authorities in Florida took woman and her partner into custody on child abuse charges after a child was hospitalized with multiple severe injuries. The couple was taken into custody after a two-month investigation by the Sheriff’s Office in connection to severe injuries sustained by the woman’s young child, who was not identified due to her age.
The child’s mom, later identified as 28-year-old Jorrdan, has been charged with felony child neglect causing great bodily harm. She was released from the county jail on a $75,000 bond. Jessy, her 29-year-old boyfriend (SEE PHOTO), faces felony aggravated child abuse charges and remains in the county jail with bond set at $300,000.
The investigation began earlier this year when the mother brought her baby to the local hospital for treatment. The hospital contacted the Sheriff’s Office after discovering that the baby had multiple injuries, including a broken arm, healing broken ribs, broken legs, bite marks, and extensive bruising across the body. Some of the bruising was described as old, while other injuries appeared to be more recent.
The child’s injuries were severe and included visible signs of physical trauma on the face, scalp, neck, chest, abdomen, back, and limbs. The baby had two missing bottom teeth, indicating trauma to the mouth, and doctors were concerned by the extent and variety of the injuries.
The child’s parent initially told investigators that the injuries were the result of falls or accidents that occurred during December 2024 and January 2025. She claimed that her partner was not violent toward the child and that he only spent infrequent time alone with her. However, a closer investigation revealed inconsistencies in the parent’s statements.
The mother suggested the baby might suffer from a condition known as “BrittIe Bone Disease,” which causes bones to break more easily. However, test results for the disease came back negative, disproving her claim. Furthermore, hospital records revealed that she only took the baby to the doctor once, on December 5, despite the child suffering from significant injuries.
Further investigation, including a review of the mother’s cell phone, revealed troubling evidence. Authorities found that she had taken photos of the baby’s injuries since December, yet she did not seek proper medical attention for the child. One particularly concerning text message from the parent to her partner, which stated that ‘he purposely hit the child’s head on the door.’ The woman also wrote that ‘all she did was ask why he did that and then he threw the child in the back seat’. ‘You act like you hate my kids and it hurts,’ the woman also wrote.
In addition, the mother had texted a family member several times about the baby’s injuries, with the family member expressing concern and suggesting that the parent not take the baby out in public for fear of attracting the attention of the Department of Children and Families. Despite these concerns, the mother did not take action to protect the child.
During an interview with investigators, the mother’s boyfriend denied the allegations of abuse, claiming that any incidents were not violent in nature. He said he only “playfully” pinched the baby’s nose with his hand. However, a separate report from another child who had been in his care stated that when left alone with the baby, the defendant would pinch the baby’s nose with work tools, punch her in the mouth, and cover her nose and mouth to prevent her from breathing.
The investigation revealed that he had, on multiple occasions, watched the baby alone for extended periods of time, which raises questions about his involvement in the child’s injuries. In addition to the troubling text message from the mother, which mentioned his aggressive behavior, investigators found further evidence of abuse through phone records and interviews.
While the child’s father, who resides out of state, was interviewed by authorities, he was cleared of any involvement in the abuse. The baby is now in the care of the Department of Children and Families, and efforts are being made to provide her with the medical treatment and emotional support she needs to recover from the trauma.
