Florida – A Florida man and his family member were taken into custody last week in connection with his girIfriend’s death last year. Authorities in Florida said both defendants were taken into custody fifteen months after the shooting death of 30-year-old P. Streter. Both defendants now face first-degree murder charges in connection with woman’s death.
Last year in January, deputies responded to a shooting at the victim’s apartment. Inside, they found the victim deceased from multiple gunshot wounds while her three children were unharmed in the bed beside her. The defendant, 32-year-old S. Range, who was also shot in the arm, was present at the scene and directed officers to the woman’s body. The victim was killed while sIeeping with her chiIdren, while they were unharmed in the b ed next to her.
Initially, the defnedant claimed that an intruder had followed him into the apartment, shot him, and then killed his girIfriend while she attempted to reach for her phone. He alleged that the assailant stole money and several ceIIphones before fleeing. However, Florida authoriteis found inconsistencies in his account. Evidence indicated that the victim had been dead for hours before the defendant made the 911 call, suggesting that the timeline he provided was inaccurate.
One of the critical aspects of the investigation was the discovery of several discrepancies in the defendant’s statements. For example, he initially told authorities that he was shot by an intruder during a break-in, but his injuries were not consistent with the way he described the attack. Additionally, the timeline of events didn’t align with forensic evidence. He also claimed that the victim was still alive when he called for help, but the medical examiner determined she had been dead for several hours by the time the Florida authorities were alerted.
Investigators then turned their focus to his’s communication with his family member, 26-year-old B. Gormon, prior to the incident. Text messages between the couple showed that he was not authorized to be at the apartment that night, casting doubt on his claims that he was simply a victim of a robbery.
Another breakthrough came when investigators reviewed nearby surveillance footage. This video revealed Gormon’s presence at the scene, which was inconsistent with Range’s claim of a lone intruder.
Investigators also discovered that Gormon had been seen entering the apartment complex shortly before the shooting, corroborating the idea that the men had planned the murder together. Interviews with neighbors and witnesses helped further confirm that both defendants (SEE PHOTO) were attempting to cover up the crime by fabricating a robbery gone wrong.
