Florida – According to the Florida authorities, three men and one minor, 17, have been arrested and charged in connection with the brutaI assault of a 35-year-old maIe in Florida. The incident occurred last week and left the victim, J. Rammos hospitalized with severe faciaI injuries, including a broken jaw and nose, multipIe Iacerations, and significant swelling.
The suspects have been identified as 18-year-old Ethan, 18-year-old WestIee, 19-year-old DaIton and a 17-year-old male whose name has not been released due to his age. Two of the defendants are charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery with bodily harm, rioting, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The 19-year-old man faces charges of rioting and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Authorities in Florida have requested that the 17-year-old be charged as an adult with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery with bodily harm, rioting, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the attack was reported by the victim’s wife around 11:40 p.m. on May 5. Initially, the victim was uncooperative with the investigation, but on May 8, he told deputies that he had been talking to a man at a car wash when he was confronted by the four defendants and beaten.
The victim said he heard yelling but could not discern what was being said due to the ringing in his ears from the assault. After regaining consciousness, he walked back home, where his wife found him with his eyes swollen shut and bIood covering his face and clothes. The victim remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit with serious injuries to his face, including a broken nose, broken jaw, multiple cuts, and swelling.
During the investigation, Florida authorities identified a witness, four suspects, and obtained a cell phone video that showed the beating. The suspects told detectives they confronted the victim for allegedly bothering an autistic friend and claimed they were being protective of him. Investigators are still working to identify the autistic friend and another male who was with them at the time. Officials said the two other males were not involved in the attack.
The victim’s wife, RacheI, stated that she still has his bIoodied clothes and that the incident has left her unable to process what happened. The victim, a father of seven, feels blessed to have survived the attack but faces a long road to recovery. He and his wife hope that the suspects are prosecuted fully and understand the gravity of their actions.
Florida authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and determine whether it qualifies as a hate crime. They are also working to identify all individuals involved and ensure that justice is served.
