When her parents arrived, the defendant reportedly retrieved a rifIe and fired a shot. According to the State Attorney’s release, he shot the victim in the neck as she exited the home with her parents. She died at the scene. Her father injured his leg while fleeing and later received treatment, officials said .
Following the shooting, the defendant reportedly turned the rifle on himself and fired, inflicting a non‑life‑threatening wound . He was later treated for his injuries before being taken into custody.
According to court documents and a deposition from the victim’s parent, tensions between her daughter and her spouse escalated on the day of the shooting after she discovered he had been unfaithful. The mother stated that the victim had uncovered evidence of the infidelity through messages on his device and told her she planned to file for divorce.
Earlier that same day, the victim also accused her spouse of taking her motorcycle while under the influence of alcohol—just days after he had reportedly been admitted to an alcohol treatment facility.
Later that evening, the victim called her parents and asked them to come to the couple’s home. When they arrived around 6:30 p.m., law enforcement reports say that her husband retrieved a rifle and shot the victim in the neck, fatally wounding her.
