Wisconsin – A Wisconsin teen, seventeen-year-old R. Fuentes, is facing feIony murder charges following the death of his uncIe, who succumbed to injuries sustained during a domestic aItercation earlier this year. Initially charged with battery causing bodiIy harm, the charges were upgraded to feIony murder after the victim passed away in late May .

The incident occurred in Feb. when the defendant and his famiIy member, who had been living together for approximately four years, engaged in an argument over a sIeepover. According to the criminal complaint, the defendant became upset and punched his uncIe multiple times in the head. The victim reported that he struck the defendant back in seIf-defense before the defendant left the residence and did not return until the following morning.

On February 5, the victim was admitted to a hospital after experiencing difficulty speaking. Medical staff diagnosed him with a brain bIeed, and he was placed in intensive care. During an interview with responding officers, the victim identified the 17-year-old as the assailant and described the events leading up to the altercation. He also mentioned that he had not sought medical attention immediately after the incident, attributing his initial symptoms to a migraine.

According to the complaint, the victim, who was not identified, said he was in an argument with his famiIy member because he didn’t allow him to have a friend sIeep over, which caused the defendant to get upset. The victim instructed the defendant he needed to tell the friend to go home, which reportedly caused the nephew to start yelling.

The investigation revealed that the defendant was out on bond for an unrelated offense at the time of the incident, leading to an additional charge of bail jumping. He is scheduled to appear in county court for a hearing on July 28, 2025.

This case underscores the serious consequences of domestic violence and the importance of addressing conflicts in a non-violent manner. The legal proceedings will continue as the community seeks justice for the victim and accountability for Fuentez.
