New York – A man from New York, who made his way across Texas border in 2022 and was in the country iIIegally, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after the death of his newborn baby, Lisayda. The tragic incident occurred last week when authorities responded to a 911 call placed by the 20-year-old man, MarIon, claiming that the baby had rolled off the bed. When first responders arrived, the infant was transported to a local hospital, where she was later transferred to another facility before being pronounced dead. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be homicide, prompting a detailed investigation into the events leading to the child’s death.

According to authorities in New York, initially claimed that the infant had rolled off the bed, but further questioning revealed a far more disturbing account of physical abuse. The suspect admitted to slapping the 2-month-old baby in the face, punching her in the stomach, violently shaking her, and throwing her onto a bed before punching her in the chest. Investigators found that the child had sustained several injuries, including fractures to her ribcage, a fractured vertebra in the neck, and various abrasions and broken bones.

The 20-year-old man reportedly explained to police that he did not believe the baby was his, despite being listed as the father on the birth certificate. He allegedly lost affection for the child, feeling animosity and disrespect toward her. Authorities in New York shared that the man stated, “He hit the child several times around the head and face… He threw the child on the ground,” further revealing the violent nature of the attack.

The 20-year-old man is an illegal immigrant who entered the United States in 2022, crossing the border. After being apprehended by Border Patrol, he was released into the U.S. for a future immigration hearing. He later traveled to Virginia before ultimately settling in New York. Authorities confirmed that he lived in the Inwood home with the mother of his children, a 20-year-old woman, and their 1-year-old baby. The infant’s mother was not implicated in the abuse, and the 1-year-old boy was removed from the home for medical evaluation.

The mother of the children was reportedly not involved in the abuse, and investigators have not disclosed how the family was financially supporting themselves.

He was charged with second-degree murder and pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on March 13, 2025. He is being held without bail and is scheduled for his next court appearance on March 17, 2025. His defense attorney stated that, although he is young and clearly facing remorse, the details of his actions are undeniable.
