Missouri – A Missouri man is behind bars and later charged with multiple charges, including chiId abuse after doctors discovered dozen frctures and several bruises on his newborn baby. The 20-year-old dad from Missouri, R. Lenard was taken into custody last week following a doctor’s appointment. According to the police officials, the defendant and his wife brought their baby to the doctor’s office, who reportedly told them that they need to take the baby to the hospital after discovering bruises on the child’s body.
The parents reportedly refused to take the 2-month-old baby to the hospital, which prompted the doctor to report this incident to DFS and the authorities. The local police department responded to the family’s home and made contact with the victim’s mother, who was cooperative. The parents then agreed to take the child to the hospital. The hospital staff discovered that the child had multiple bruises on her body and that she suffered dozen frctures.
During an initial interview with investigators, the baby’s dad reportedly said that he fell and dropped the baby on the floor. When authorities told him about the injuries, the defendant reportedly said that he fell on top of the newborn. The victim’s mom told authorities that she doesn’t believe that her husband was capable of injuring their baby. The woman also told authorities that her husband was abused when he was a child.
In a follow-up interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly admitted to injuring the baby while being rough with the baby during dressing and diaper changes. The father reportedly said that the baby’s hands would get caught while he tried to dress the child. The man also told investigators that the baby resisted while he was changing her diapers.
According to the father, he was rough and used more force than necessary while handling the baby and felt bad when the baby reacted accordingly. The young father reportedly said that he was abused as a child and there was just too much going on at once in his life. The father also told investigators that he becomes very angry because his baby would always cry when he tried to hold her and the stress was building. The 20-year-old man posted a bond and judge ordered him not to have contact with his wife or baby while out on bond.
