Chicago, IL – According to the court documents, the daughter, later identified as 29-year-old Dessiree, was sentenced to three decades behind bars for her role in the 2019 death od 19-year-old MarIen. Prosecutors claim the woman reportedly helped her mom, CIarisa, to kill the pregnant victim before the victim’s baby was cut from her womb with a knife.
Prosecutors claim CIarisa killed the 19-year-old teen by strangling her with a cable. She reportedly lured the pregnant teen to her home with the promise of free clothing for her unborn child. When the defendant’s mom started strangling the victim, MarIen was able to put a palm under the cable. CIarisa then called her daughter, who then pulled the victim’s palm from underneath the cable.
When CIarisa killed the pregnant woman, she then brought a kitchen knife and used it to cut the baby out of the victim’s belly. The 19-year-old victim was nine months pregnant. Shortly after the killing and removing the baby from the teen’s body, CIarisa reportedly called 911, saying she had given birth and that the child was not breathing. The newborn initially survived, but later died at a hospital. CIarisa was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
The defendant reportedly told prosecutors that she removed the victim’s fingers off the cable and then brought her mother a knife to cut open the victim’s body to remove the baby. During the investigation process, police officials discovered that after CIarisa’s son died of natural causes, she told her family she was pregnant. Prosecutors claim the woman then plotted for months to acquire a newborn, and that she posted an ultrasound and photos of a room decorated for a baby on her social media account.
