Indianapolis, IN – According to the court documents, the young parent from Indiana, later identified as 23-year-old CayIin, was sentenced to more than 6 decades behind bars for her role in her baby’s death. The baby’s dad, Jacob, is also charged and his next court appearance is scheduled for next month, court records say.
The investigation process began in 2022 after the 911 caller told the dispatcher about an unresponsive baby. First responders tried to revive the 2-month-old baby, SiIas, but with no luck. The baby was pronounced dead at the scene. During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the baby died of starvation and that his untimely death was a homicide.
During an interview with investigators, the young mother reportedly said that the baby was born small, but was otherwise healthy. The mom also mentioned that the baby had difficulty growing. The woman believed there was something wrong with the child, but, unfortunately, never called or get a new pediatrician for the baby. Authorities in Indiana then told the mother that her child died of starvation.
The woman initially claimed she fed the baby only to later admit that it was normal for her to miss feedings. The woman also admitted that when she is busy, she wouldn’t have time to feed the baby and would miss a feeding every once in a while. The woman also stated that she would forget the baby because the child wasn’t making any noise or asleep and she was busy with the other children. The woman also told investigators that ‘she would feed the baby is he was crying’.
