Jacksonville, FL – According to the police officials, the young mom, later identified as Llnda, was arrested and taken into custody after she reportedly left her toddler and his two older siblings home alone in the middle of the night. Prosecutors say the woman is now charged with child neglect. The responding officers discovered that the parent left her children, 2, 8 and 10-year-old, home alone in the middle of the night, so she could go to vvork. All 3 kids were taken from her care and placed into custody of their dad.
The investigation began on Tuesday after the 911 called told the dispatcher about a toddler walking alone in the street. The responding officers made contact with the witness who reportedly found the child. The responding officers then discovered that the child left his home with a pooch and walked nearly 1/4 miIe before someone called the authorities.
The responding officers then entered the boy’s residence and found his two older siblings. The officers stated that the home smeIIed very bad and the temperature was very hot. There was no food at the home as well. The mom’s 10-year-old child, who was not identified due to her age, reportedly told the officers that her mom was at work at the local gas station (night shift) and during that time, she is the one responsible for her younger siblings.
When officers made contact with the mother, she reportedly said that she was ‘unexpectedly called in to work that night due to an emergency’, L&C reported. The mom’s lawyer reportedly said that the woman is a ‘single mom and is trying to make rent payments, trying to make water payments’. The attorney also said that ‘there’s circumstance behind it, i’s not like she was trying to go out and have fun. She was trying to provide for her family.’
