Houston, TX – According to the police officials, the 39-year-old parent, later identified as Monlca, was arrested and later charged with multiple charges, including collision involving serious bodily injury and intoxication assault with vehicle serious bodily injury after she crashed her car into other parked vehicles. The crash left her child, 9, with serious injuries. The child, who was not identified due to his age, suffered a skuII fracture, bIeeding in the brain and the cut on his head was so deep, his skuII was visivle, police officials said.
This unfortunate incident occurred last week, police officials said. The responding officers made contact with witnesses who reportedly told them that the woman was speeding when she crashed into the parked vehicles. The woman then tried to drive away, but couldn’t start her vehicle because it was too damaged from the crash.
Shortly after the incident, the woman’s family member, who was not identified, arrived on scene, witnesses told investigators. The 39-year-old mom then tried to get into her family member’s car and drive away, but was prevented from the family member. Shortly after, both women tried to put the injured 9-year-old boy into the relative’s vehicle, but were unsuccessful. When first responders arrived on scene, the mother left her child and drove away with her family member.
The responding officers were able to locate the woman and find her at the family member’s home. During an interview with investigators, the 39-year-old mom reportedly said that ‘she only had a few drinks that night’. But, the responding officers stated that the parent failed both a preliminary breathalyzer and a field sobriety test. The woman’s eyes were watery and her breath smelled strongly of alcohol, police officials stated. The 39-year-old mom is being held without bond.
