Talk about timing! A mother in California gave birth to twins just minutes apart in 2021 and 2022. “It was an absolute pleasure to help these little ones arrive here safely in 2021 and 2022. What an amazing way to start the New Year!” the mother said. Both kids were safe and healthy as they came into their world technically a year apart.
The rare incident transpired at Navidad Medical Center in California, where Fatima Madrigal and Robert Trujillo had arrived to welcome their babies.
According to reports, the Greenfield couple first said hello to their son, Alfredo, at 11:45 p.m. local time on New Year’s Eve. 15 minutes later, at 12, their daughter, Aylin, was born.
In a press release from the hospital, mother Fatima expressed her feelings about her twins’ unique birthdays. “It’s crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays,” she shared. “I was surprised and happy that she arrived at midnight.”
The family’s doctor at the Natividad Medical Group, Dr. Ana Abril Arias reportedly said: “This was definitely one of the most memorable deliveries of my career.”
“It was an absolute pleasure to help these little ones arrive here safely in 2021 and 2022,” she added. “What an amazing way to start the New Year!” Both kids were safe and healthy as they came into their world technically a year apart.
While Aylin weighed 6 lbs., 1 oz., her big brother weighed 6 lbs., 1 oz. They have joined their three older siblings, two girls, and a boy, now. Fatima revealed that her oldest son is overjoyed to have a baby brother and that the rest of their family is thrilled to meet its newest members, according to reports.
“Natividad welcomed Aylin Yolanda Trujillo as the area’s first baby of 2022,” tweeted the hospital on Saturday. “Her twin, Alfredo Antonio Trujillo, was born 15 minutes earlier at 11:45 pm Friday, Dec. 31, meaning their birthday falls on a different day, month and year— a 1 in 2 million chance!” it continued.
Per the CDC, there are approximately 120,000 twin births every year in the United States. This makes up only 3 percent of all births. And twins being born a year apart is rather rare.
