Pennsylvania – A Pennsylvania man was arrested and charged with criminaI homicide and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of 59‑year‑old PameIa, Pennsylvania authorities said.
According to police, the victim was found dead inside her apartment at the partments complex in Pennsylvania, on Sunday morning. Investigators believe she was kiIIed during the early hours of Saturday, before her body was discovered. An autopsy performed by the county coroner determined that she had suffered multiple stab wounds and ruled her death a homicide.
Police say the case began Friday night when the defendant, 54-year-old GIenn Whitier, was reportedly visiting a friend in one apartment of the same complex. The victim came to the friend’s apartment that night to check on another friend. According to investigators, the defendant asked her for cigarettes, and later, the two left together — the victim went to her own apartment.
Court documents and investigators say he then allegedly suggested they have se*. The victim reportedly refused. A witness who spoke to police said he called him several hours later, and the defendant answered — during that call, the witness said he heard the older woman say, “You’re not touching me.”
The witness and other friends tried repeatedly to reach the victim the rest of Saturday, but she did not respond. When she remained unreachable, a friend became worried, checked her apartment door, and discovered her body Sunday morning. According to police at the scene, she was lying on the kitchen floor, her clothing covered in bIood, and a knife was found beneath her body.
Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the apartment complex. The footage allegedly shows the defendant leaving the building around 7:00 a.m. Saturday. Detectives believe he changed cIothes afterward, possibly disposing of or hiding bIoody garments, consistent with the charge of tampering with evidence.
When the defendant was taken into custody and later questioned by reporters as he was being transported from the police station, he reportedly declared, “Yes,” when asked if he believed himself innocent. He declined to comment when asked what he was doing in the victim’s apartment. In a separate remark he claimed that it was the first time he had met her — that they were introduced through a friend.
Pennsylvania authorities said he is now jailed without bail. The District Attorney’s Office announced that the charges will remain as criminal homicide and tampering with evidence.
Detectives said they found evidence consistent with a struggle inside the victim’s apartment and indicated that the attack was not a random act — the victim and suspect apparently knew each other, though the exact nature of their relationship remains unclear. Police have asked anyone in the community who may have surveillance footage from around the time of the incident to contact the County Detective Bureau.
At this time, Pennsylvania authorities have not released a definitive motive beyond the allegation that the defendant sought se* and reacted vioIentIy after being refused. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence related to the homicide.
