An adorable dog was abandoned by her family who left her tied to a fire hydrant earlier this week. The Wisconsin Humane Society has since jumped into action to help find a home for the nearly 6-year-old pooch. Just minutes before being rescued, the dog was pictured sitting next to the backpack. When these images were shared on social media, they evoked an emotional response from people who felt sorry for the abandoned puppy. One of the residents in the area made a post about the dog on Facebook and claimed that he sat outside with her for an hour in an attempt to keep the dog warm.
According to the statement, the dog was found at the corner of East Walnut Street and South Clay Street in Wisconsin. There was a note left by the owner, who identified her as Baby Girl and explained why they could not take care of the pet anymore. Beside her was a backpack filled with treats, food, and toys which were also left behind, according to WFRV-TV.

He waited for someone to come back for her but unfortunately no one did. Following her rescue, WHS took to their own Facebook page and confirmed that the pooch is “doing great” while “serving her mandatory stray hold” in their care.
Addressing Baby Girl’s owner, the organization shared a rather compassionate message. “First and foremost, we are so sorry you had to part with your best friend.
It’s evident just how much you loved her and we can see you did your best while struggling with your own medical complications and challenges of life,” read the post according to PEOPLE.
The WHS went on to note how the dog’s owner had carefully packed the bag with all of her favorite things” and the way you secured her leash so she wouldn’t get hit by a car, as well as the way they placed the pup in the middle of a neighborhood where she’d be quickly found” were all signs of the fact that the pet’s former caretaker loved her a lot.
“We see your love in how happy and healthy Baby Girl looks. And we see your love in the note you left, pleading for someone to help her when you no longer could.
While we’ll never let fees be a barrier and we welcome anonymous surrenders, we see that you did what you thought was best for your beloved pup and we are grateful for your compassion.”
“Rest assured that she’s safe, she’s getting tons of attention from our team, and she’s on track to finding her next loving family very soon,” they added before addressing well-wishers who were concerned about the dog’s well-being.
“We wish you all the best and hope that if you see this, you can rest a little easier knowing your Baby Girl has a bright future ahead,” said the WHS. Baby Girl with remains in her stray hold until someone claims her. If no one comes forward, she will be put up for adoption.
