Jacksonville, FLORIDA – According to the police officials, the young mom, later identified as 22-year-old Melisa, was taken into custody and later charged with multiple charges, including child abuse and child neglect after she reportedly tried to poison her 1-year-old baby.
During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the young mother reportedly put bleach in her baby’s bottle and gave it to a family member to feed her baby.
The investigation began 5 months ago, when officers responded to a 911 call from the family member who reportedly told the dispatcher that the 22-year-old mom attempted to give her baby daughter bleach. The family member also told investigators that they found the young mom and the baby living in a shed without electricity.
The family member then tried to feed the little baby with the bottle that was given by the 22-year-old mom. Luckily, the baby didn’t want to drink the ‘liquid’ in the bottle.
Authorities later discovered that the bottle had chlorine-based bleach. During an interview with investigators, the young mom reportedly said that she used bleach to clean the bottle. When officers searched the mother’s shed, they reportedly found disinfectant and paint, which contained bleach.
