Two mothers argue in video after one clears the shelves of baby formula and the other pointed out how she didn’t care to leave anything for other babies. In the video, one mother fills her shopping cart with baby formula at a Target store. After noticing the woman clearing the shelve, another mother took it upon herself to point out how she didn’t care to leave anything for other babies. “This is the whole reason why there’s a formula shortage. You’ve taken all the formula off the shelf and bought it all at once! There’s kids who need formula today who won’t be able to get it because you just bought it to stock up.” the woman with the camera can be heard saying.
The social media user @chopnedits reportedly posted the video to their account on May 10. The video showed one shopper’s cart filled with what the woman recording the video said was baby formula. The incident is believed to have unfolded in a Massachusetts Target but the shortage of baby formula is a nationwide problem.
“You have a full cart! Look at all this!” the woman with the camera says pointing at the mom’s fully stocked cart. “Look at the shelves,” she adds noting how they are all completely empty. “You don’t think I need it for my baby too?” To this, the mom with the cart responds, “You think I knew you were going to come and get this one?”
“You just cleared the whole shelf of all of this formula!” says the woman with the camera. “We took it because I am paying for it!” replied the mom. “And I’m not paying for?’ the first mother continues calmly. “I have a child at home and you just cleared the whole shelf.”
“This is the whole reason why there’s a formula shortage. You’ve taken all the formula off the shelf and bought it all at once! There’s kids who need formula today who won’t be able to get it because you just bought it to stock up,” she explains.
At this point, the mom with the packed cart decided to move on and continue her shopping leaving the the other woman shocked at her total disregard for others, Newsweek reports.
“That’s not your problem, right?” she says as the mom walks away with her shopping cart. The incident is believed to have unfolded in a Massachusetts Target but the shortage of baby formula is a nationwide problem. Following the recent incident, people on social media had some solutions in mind.
“The store should limit the amount each person can buy,” suggested one user in the comment section. Another noted that the woman might actually be buying so many to sell them online at a higher price, taking advantage of the shortage.
“There should be a limit or lock it up like Walmart does. That’s crazy. She’s probably going to sell it no baby at home. I’m buying?” noted another.
“Why hasn’t Target put a limit on the amount one person can purchase? I was at a Walgreens’s in Wisconsin and the formula was behind the counter,” revealed a third.
Per reports, a Target spokesperson reportedly told Newsweek in an email that the company has put some online and in-store limitations in place of four products per customer.
